Current and planned work:
Villita Street Closure
- CPS gas work continues thru July 2025. The entrance at South Alamo is closed.
Nueva Lane Closures (West of South Alamo)
- Continuing thru July 2025 the contractor is installing a gas main on Nueva (West of South Alamo)
- Two north side traffic lanes of Nueva will be closed
- Two-way traffic will be maintained on Nueva west of South Alamo
- Crosswalks on the north and west sides of South Alamo & Nueva will be maintained
Nueva & S. Alamo East Intersection Closure
- Continuing through September 2025 the contractor will be closing the Nueva & S. Alamo east intersection for roadway reconstruction.
- The parking lot entrance and exit to the Magik Theatre is accessible only from Cesar Chavez & Hemisfair Blvd.
- An east/west ADA compliant crosswalk will be maintained at all times at Nueva.
Eastside South Alamo - Utility and Reconstruction Work
- Market Street east side intersection will have lane closures beginning as early as July 21, 2025, thru August 2025 for storm drain installation. Two eastbound lanes will be open at all times.
- Continuing through September 2025 the contractor will be closing and reconstructing the east half of S. Alamo from Cesar Chavez to Nueva, including roadway work, the east side sidewalk, and adjustments to sewer and storm manholes.
- The northern lanes of Cesar Chavez will be closed and one lane in each direction eastbound and westbound on Cesar Chavez will be open to thru-traffic.
- Continuing through February 2026 the contractor will be closing and reconstructing the east half of S. Alamo from Nueva to Market Street, including storm drain installation, SAWS sewer, CPS gas, and SAWS water installation. Roadway reconstruction will follow utility work.
South Alamo Traffic:
- South Alamo continues to have a single southbound traffic lane open
- Market Street eastbound traffic lanes are open
- Cesar Chavez eastbound and westbound traffic lanes open
- Arciniega St. continues to be closed.
- Business access, parking lot and pedestrian access provided
