El Contrato Initiative de Construction Ha finalizado. Todavía existe la necesidad de más infraestructura de este sendero para traer más comodidad y seguridad a sus usuarios.

También queremos que este sendero crea conectividad a una red en desarrollo de senderos para bicicletas y peatones a través de nuestra Actualización del Plan de la Red de Bicicletas.

El Departamento de Transporte está desarrollando una Fase II en la que se pueden dirigir algunos de estos problemas y buscar financiamiento para realar mejoras.

2016-2020: Land Acquisition/Planning/Design

FY 2017: Bicycle Infrastructure & Maintenance Program (IMP) began the real estate acquisition process for project site

FY 2018: funding of $500,000 and was held for acquisition purposes

2021 Construction Begins

February 2021: Construction begins on shared use path, starting with a section of pathway from Nogalitos to S. Flores 

March 2021: Construction on concrete path from Nogalitos to S. Flores  is completed

Construction Tour with Residents

Residents near the Lone Star Rails to Trails joined Transportation Director Tomika Monterville in a discussion and preview of the pathway.

The meeting began at the Probandt Street entrance and the group then took a ½ mile walking tour.  Staff was on hand to discuss the bike and pedestrian path, including:

Potential opening date of trail

Next Steps: Phase II and beyond

  • Public Meeting Spring 2025 The Transportation Department is planning a public meeting to discuss improvements the community has expressed a need for on the Lone Star Trail. Please share your contact information so that we can provide you with updates!
  • Mitigate stormwater runoff concerns with environmental infrastructure
  • Continue to gather public input from neighborhood groups and residents along the trail
