Know Before You Go Downtown - Fiesta 2024
Downtown visitors should plan ahead for traffic, detours and parking
Downtown San Antonio will be very busy during Fiesta! Visitors are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and arrive early to downtown events to avoid expected disruptions related to traffic, construction projects and parking. Fiesta San Antonio takes place April 18-28, 2024.
Leave Early and Plan Ahead – Heavy traffic is expected. Plan to leave early and be sure to consult a navigation app, such as Google Maps or Waze, to find the best route to your destination. Please celebrate responsibly and plan a sober ride.
Take VIA Metropolitan Transit Park & Ride – Bus shuttle service will be available for select events. Visit their website for drop off/pick up locations and up-to-date information.
Use Ride Share – Using this service avoids traffic congestion and keeps you and those around you safe from traffic accidents.
Parking – Visitors who choose to drive should give themselves plenty of time, plan where they will park in advance and enter the address of the parking facility as their destination address in the navigation app. A map showing a full list of City-owned garages and lots can be found on the City’s SAPark website.
Parking
The City of San Antonio offers convenient and affordable parking at its parking garages and lots. The St. Mary’s Garage (205 E. Travis St.) and the City Tower Garage (117 W. Commerce St.) are located just steps from the River Walk, Houston Street and Travis Park, and they generally have a large availability of public parking spaces.

Street Closures
- April 16 at noon to April 29 at 6 p.m.: San Saba between Dolorosa and Commerce will be closed
- April 17 at 8 a.m. to April 29 at 9 a.m.: San Saba between Commerce and Houston St. will be closed
- Commerce between Santa Rosa and Pecos closes daily at 6 p.m. on weekdays, with the closures staying in place over the weekends
NOTE: Construction in the area has various lane closures on Dolorosa, Commerce and Pecos

Street Closures
- April 20 at 7 a.m. - April 28 at 9 p.m.
- Presa St. between Nueva and Market St.
- Nueva between S. Alamo and St. Mary's St.
- Southbound S. Alamo between Cesar Chavez and Market St. will close at approximately 4:30 p.m. on event days
