Project Status
The preliminary alternatives analysis is underway to identify the top priority locations for potential traffic calming improvements. Each priority location will be assessed to see which designs are feasible. These ideas will be shared at the first public meeting, where the community can provide feedback. See timeline for Project schedule. The project will continue with more public meetings, data collection, and design work. Final plans are expected by March 2026, followed by construction.
Background
The project started with listening sessions with residents in the Alta Vista and Monte Vista neighborhoods, followed by field visits. Based on what was learned, the study area (Figure 1), was expanded to include a broader area bounded by Blanco, Basse, McCullough, and Ashby, with the addition of Mulberry and Summit.
The team has held listening sessions, conducted field visits to understand community concerns, and performed engineering analysis. Based on this input and a detailed analysis of crashes, speed, and traffic patterns, we narrowed 54 possible routes down to a set of preliminary priority corridors for focused attention.
These corridors represent the areas most in need of attention. We have been conducting a thorough traffic calming assessment to determine the different types of traffic calming tools that could be applied to these corridors. We plan to present these corridors and different options for traffic calming tools that could be applied at the upcoming public meeting and get the community’s input. Your input is essential to shaping these improvements.
Following the meeting, we’ll continue outreach through property owner surveys and block walking to ensure as many voices as possible are heard. Your feedback will help refine the designs, and we'll share updates at a future public meeting. Our goal is to implement traffic calming measures with strong community support before the Green Line opens.
