Project Update

With the support of the Public Works Department, our first improvement was installed! It's an all-way stop at Howard Street and Melrose Place, completed on May 4, 2026.
Up Next:
For those living or traveling along Mulberry Avenue, you may be impacted by upcoming traffic calming improvements along Mulberry. These improvements were requested by residents and are designed to reduce speeding and cut-through traffic while making the roadway safer for everyone who travels in the area.
Construction on Mulberry Avenue from San Pedro Avenue to Main Avenue is scheduled to begin Monday, July 27, 2026.*
- The project will be completed in two phases.
- Crews will first resurface the roadway, then return about two weeks later to add new pavement markings.
- *Weather permitting
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project includes resurfacing the road by removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt.
After the new pavement is ready, crews will add new roadway markings. A centerline will be painted, and from San Pedro Avenue to Belknap Place, parking lanes and buffered bicycle lanes will be added to the roadway.
Mulberry Avenue is one of five corridors selected for the first phase of the Green Line Traffic Calming Project.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The work to resurface the road is expected to take about two days. Crews are expected to return within two weeks to install the new pavement markings. Crews will work to minimize disruptions. Access to homes and businesses will remain open throughout construction. Drivers may experience short delays during work hours. Message boards will be placed in advance to help residents and visitors plan ahead.
