Bridge Closure & Bridge Repair Work:

Public Works along with EZ-Bel Construction will be commencing construction repairs for the West Market Street Bridge Repair (West Market Street Bridge over the San Antonio River) Project.

The work to be done includes the following Bridge Closure & Bridge Repair Work:

West Market Street Bridge over the San Antonio River: Construction Starts: 2.5.24 thru 2.23.24.

Due to weather conditions or unforeseen occurrences the closure date may be adjusted.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation while these improvements are in progress. While improvements are underway, here is some helpful information about the improvement project to assist you:

Vehicles should not be parked on the street. If vehicles are in the path of the project and no one is available to move it, it will be towed to one of the streets in your area.
Traffic detour barricades and signs will be provided to guide traffic through the construction as needed.
Sidewalks on the Riverwalk level will be opened in the afternoon for full pedestrian access.
In the event of adverse weather, environmental conditions, unforeseen equipment issues, or schedule conflicts, work will likely be rescheduled as soon as conditions permit.

Project Update 2/9/24

Phase 2 (Monday, February 19 – Friday, February 23) – Concrete spalling repairs will begin on the W. Market Street bridge beneath the street level on the northside deck and repairs to the interior bent wall. Vehicular traffic on the north most lane will be closed for the duration of Phase 2 from Main Plaza to S St. Mary’s, intersections will be unobstructed. Pedestrian traffic at the riverwalk level will be detoured around the work area.

SUMMARY: Work will be occurring on the south side of the W Market St. bridge during Phase 1. Vehicular traffic on the south most lane will be closed for the duration of Phase 1 from S St Mary’s St to S Main Ave, intersections will be unobstructed. Pedestrian and ADA access at street level and access to Riverwalk on the north side of the W Market bridge will remain available.
