The City of San Antonio's Public Works Department will construct general park improvements within available funding in support of the Master Plan which may include shade enhancements at the basketball court and additional parking at Martin Luther King Park.

Construction Notice:
Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and City Council District 2 are excited to announce the start of construction on improvements to Martin Luther King Park, made possible by the 2022-2027 Bond Program.
Project Timeline: Summer 2025 - Winter 2026
The project will include the following improvements, a new basketball court shade canopy with lighting, new surfacing and striping for the existing basketball court, addition of goals, new seating and walkways, picnic area shade and new parking lot, as well as splashpad area shading.
Site Closures:
Will include temporary closures of the basketball courts, partial closures of the picnic and splashpad areas for installation of shade structures and other improvements for the duration of the work in these areas of the park.
