2017-2022 Bond Project: Enrique M. Barrera Parkway Phase 1 (Old Highway 90 Area)
The Bond Project will improve the Enrique M. Barrera Parkway corridor with street, drainage and sidewalk improvements as appropriate and within available funding.
This Bond Project is the first phase of a multiphase plan to improve the street, drainage and sidewalks along the Old Highway 90 area of Enrique M. Barrera Parkway. Phase 1 improvements will include a mill and overlay with curbs, new sidewalks, storm drainage and traffic signal upgrades between State Highway 151 to 36th Street. The additive alternate included as part of this contract will provide for new underground storm sewer, water and gas utilities.

PROJECT UPDATE: April 22, 2024
The original contractor experienced challenges completing the project. Staff hired an additional contractor, who has since completed the roadway work. The roadway has been reopened, and the original contractor is currently working on final work items and addressing work that does not meet City specifications.

NOTABLE COMPLETION:
- Pedestrian signalized crossings have been installed for increased safety.
Striping on main lanes has also been completed.
