Poet's Pointe - Public Art Community Dedication Event

Join the Department of Arts & Culture to officially dedicate Poet’s Pointe, by San Antonio artists team Kim Bishop and Luis Valderas, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10am to 11am. This new community space is located near the corner of Magnolia & Mistletoe (2509 W. Mistletoe Ave., 78228) in Council District 7. This will be an opportunity to meet artists Kim Bishop and Luis Valderas plus enjoy a ribbon cutting ceremony, a recreation activity by the Parks & Recreation Department, light refreshments and a poetry reading by San Antonio Poet Laureate Octavio Quintanilla (2018 – 2020).

This event is free and open to the public. Parking can be found in the surrounding neighborhood, please do not block driveways or access points.

About Poet’s Pointe: This a new community space that incorporates public art and poetry into the design. Visitors to the space can enjoy flora, shade structures and seating as well as enjoy ceramic murals and poems by local artists which reflect on themes of the neighborhood; Magnolia, Mistletoe, Morning Glory, Mulberry, Huisache, Sun and Water. The space can be used for gathering, reading and creating; a place of communion, education, meditation and collaborative sharing.
