To improve pedestrian safety on Wurzbach Road at Dean Pannill Drive, Vision Zero SA and the Transportation Department constructed a mid-block crosswalk equipped with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB). A Federal Highway Administration study published in 2010 found that PHBs can reduce pedestrian crashes by 69 percent and total crashes by 29 percent.
