Pleasanton Rd. Safety Improvements

Vision Zero SA and the San Antonio Transportation Department will be installing medians, one signalized intersection, and mid-block crossings equipped with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs) on Pleasanton Rd./Moursund Blvd. between Fitch St. and Loop 410. Construction for this project was funded through the City along with grant money through TxDOT's Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The improvements will:
- Reduce the number of crashes
- Create a safer experience for pedestrians crossing the street
- Provide warning lights to notify drivers to stop for pedestrians entering the crosswalk
- Provide a safer street for all road users
The first public meeting was held on October 12, 2023. The second meeting took place February 8, 2024.
What's changed with your input?
- 6 mid-block crossings have changed to:
- One signalized intersection at Rayburn Drive
- 3 proposed mid-block crossings with PHBs
- These updated improvements are dependent upon funding and subject to change
- Added a hooded left turn lane for access to E. Ashley Rd. for southbound Moursund Blvd.
- Coordination continues with VIA, Harlandale ISD, San Antonio Fire Department, CPS Energy, H-E-B, and several other local businesses
Installation of the improvements are scheduled to begin in Fall 2024.

Public Meeting for Pleasanton Rd. / Moursund Blvd. Pedestrian Improvements
Meeting is in the Harlandale High School cafeteria. Join us as we discuss the 60% design plan for the Pleasanton Rd. Medians & Mid-block Crossings Project.
